The showing year got off to an excellent start at South Suffolk Show on Sunday 12th May as British White Breed Champion Smarden Tayberry from the Mannering family, New Biddenden Green Farm, Kent also went on to be placed reserve in the Native Interbreed competition, beaten only by the eventual overall champion of the show.
The breed classes also proved successful for the Mannerings' 2 year old bull Smarden Cee Lo, as he took the Reserve Breed Championship.
The junior heifer class was topped by Dadley Ant Bear, an April-born heifer owned and exhibited by Miss S Cook, Cambridgeshire and bred by Miss EMF Matheson, Somerset. Standing second was February-born Woodbastwick Woodsy from Rotac Farms, Norfolk. Second to Smarden Tayberry in the senior heifer class was Bulby Jasmine, the 22 month old in-calf heifer owned and exhibited by Mr C Delamore, Norfolk and bred by Mrs S Bevan, Lincolnshire.
