BWCS Spring Sale 2019

The Society Spring Sale of British White breeding cattle and stores took place on Saturday 13th April at Melton Mowbray Market. The Society wishes to thank all vendors, purchasers and supporters for attending this second annual Spring event which we hope will continue to grow in years to come!

Top price on the day was paid for 20-month-old Nidderdale Eve, a smart maiden heifer from Mr A Fisher, selling for 1400gns (£1470) to Mr D Carey, Leicestershire.

Repeat purchasers G W Swales & Son picked up a nice draft of four 12-month-old heifers from Dr S Bevan, plus one 2016-born heifer from Mr J Hair, averaging 638gns (£670) a head as replacement breeding females for their commercial suckler herd in Cambridgeshire.

In the store section, it was Mr Lunn of Yorkshire who purchased the bulk of the steers and heifers for 'The Horny Cow', a beef outlet selling quality rare and native breed beef in store and online. Six steers averaged 478gns (£502) and four heifers averaged 590gns (£620).
