Cadarn Dump Truck wins at Shropshire Show for Pennington family

Breed Champion Cadarn Dump Truck

Rising to the top of the British White cattle section before also being tapped out as Reserve Champion in the Rare & Minority Interbreed competition at Shropshire County Show on 25th May was the Pennington family’s senior stock bull, Cadarn Dump Truck (EX94). Displaying outstanding correctness and locomotion at a mighty 11 years of age and having been at work in the Bridgnorth-based Oldington herd since 2017, this bull gave an excellent representation of the breed’s longevity. Cadarn Dump Truck is sired by Cadarn Excavator, both bulls bred by Mr M Kennett.

Reserve Champion Lordswood Finley

Judging the British White breed classes for the very first time was Martin Osborne of the Woodfield herd near Stourbridge, who selected the senior bull as his Breed Champion, followed closely by the Exhibitor-bred Champion Lordswood Finley in reserve. Bred and exhibited by Mr J Brain, Stratford upon Avon, and also receiving the Reserve Male Championship, this two-year-old bull is by the popular AI sire De Beauvoir Huckleberry Finn.

The female standings saw a class of five maiden heifers, from which it was Alcroft Beetle from Miss S Cook, Cambridge, taking the top spot with Mr J Brain’s Lordswood Ada in reserve. The Lordswood herd gained further success by winning the pairs class, then going on to take the Reserve Interbreed Pair in the Rare & Minority section with their well-matched homebred yearlings Lordswood Jonte and Lordswood Ada.
