Show Results: Great Yorkshire

Breed classes were proudly reinstated for British White cattle at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show on Tuesday 14 July after an eight-year hiatus, and breeders were glad to put their exhibits forward on display to big crowds, with tickets selling out for every day of the event.
The Breed Championship was awarded to the in-calf heifer Alcroft Ginger from Miss S Cook, Cambridge, rounding out an excellent morning’s competition judged by Mr James Brain, Stratford-Upon-Avon. The champion exhibit is sired by Nidderdale Alladin EX91 - himself sired by the 2015 Great Yorkshire Show champion Nidderdale Ryan - and out of Alcroft Glory VG87, the 2022 BWCS Senior Heifer of the Year.
The Reserve Breed Champion came from Mrs J Walton, Chester, with her homebred young bull Castrum Augustus, born January 2025. Sired by Castleton Alfred EX92, this bull ends his already successful show season on another high, also taking home the Male and Junior Championships.
The Harding family from Leicestershire had a number of good results with all homebred animals at the event, their senior cow Templar Madison 208 taking the Reserve Female Championship, and maiden heifer Templar Penelope 244 awarded the Reserve Junior title. The team also won the exhibitor-bred pairs class, impressing the judge with a matching pair of super cows with calves at foot.
The BWCS wishes to thank the Great Yorkshire Show for bringing back British White breed classes for 2026, and all members are encouraged to join in next year to bring forward an even bigger showcase of cattle!
