A sunny Saturday greeted exhibitors at Hanbury Show on 4 July, where the Breed Championship was awarded to the March 2025-born bull Lordswood Maxwell, bred and exhibited by Mr James Brain & Miss Libby McGinn, Stratford-upon-Avon. Sired by Elgany Just In Time and out of Woodbastwick Lacoste, this bull adds another good result to an already successful show season.
The Reserve Breed Championship went to the March 2017-born cow Marshbrook Blueberry, sired by Cadarn Welsh Dragon and out of Dallyashes Hyacinth Hippo, and shown with her four-month-old heifer calf Marshbrook Moonstone at foot which also impressed the judge on her own merit to win the junior heifer class.
Judging the breed classes was Mr Richard Hartshorn, Telford, who commented: “I was very impressed with the cattle, and to have a champion at 16 months of age and a reserve champion at 9 years shows the longevity of the breed in locomotion and confirmation, and the future looks good with the calves on the cows at the show.”
