A superb morning’s judging took place at the Suffolk County Show on Wednesday 27 May, under the watchful eye of British White breed class judge Mr Brian Palmer, Taunton. The Breed Championship was awarded to the senior bull Tollesbury Tarzan from A & V St Joseph & M Howland, Maldon, which Mr Palmer described as “an outstanding three-year-old bull with a good top line and a strong backend, that was good on his feet and showed himself well.”
In reserve was the overall Female Champion De Beauvoir Smart Sally from Mrs A Dunn, Billericay, which impressed the judge as a “lovely big cow with a good bag of milk and a super heifer calf at foot, with a lot of potential in her own right.”
Commenting on the day's lineup, Mr Palmer said: “Thank you to all the exhibitors for their hard work in presenting the animals in prestige condition. There were some nice young bulls forward, showing plenty of growth. I was also presented with a good class of senior heifers, and the winner, Tollesbury Tic Tac, stood up well with good beef character and on the day had a power advantage over the rest of the class. My Reserve Female Champion, Tollesbury Telstar, won the junior heifer class with her good beef traits and correctness, along with nice markings.”
