You can always count on a good showing of British White cattle at the Royal Three Counties, and this year's show did not disappoint. Held at Malvern over the weekend of 13 - 15 June, the breed classes were judged by Hayley Higginson of the Meadowlands herd, Cheshire, who selected maiden heifer Templar Olivia 233 from K & RP Harding, Leicestershire, as the champion of the section. Sired by Castleton Jupiter (EX93), this March 2024-born heifer was also awarded both the Female and Junior Championships in the Friday breed classes, later teaming up with Male Champion Waun Wern Lamington from Mr M Jones, Llanpumpsaint, to take reserve in the RBST Watchlist Interbreed Pairs competition on Sunday.

Continuing their success in the female section, K & RP Harding were also awarded the Reserve Female and Reserve Breed Championships for another homebred entry, the three-year-old first-calver Templar Madison 208, shown with her February-born heifer calf Templar Pocahontas 241 at foot which later went on in her own right to win the calf class. Templar Madison is another strong young female sired by the prolific Castleton Jupiter (EX93), and her calf is sired by Alcroft Goldeneye.

In the bull section it was yearling Waun Wern Lamington from Mr M Jones, Carmarthenshire, which took the Male Championship, as well as the Best Junior Male. Sired by Rhiwe Shwmae and out of Dallyashes Lappett, this bull will be getting a couple of shows under his belt before moving to a newly-established herd in Wales to get to work.

The Reserve Male and Reserve Junior Male Championships went to the February 2024-born bull Elgany Elgar from Mr M Forster, Solihull. Elgar is sired by the well-known bull Lordswood Oliver, who was himself a Male Champion at the Royal Three Counties Show back in both 2018 and 2022. Other prizes included the winner of the senior cow class and Reserve Senior Female Champion, Amaroo Partridge Rose from Miss M Bennett, as well as the Reserve Junior Female Champion Cadarn Furnace from Mr M Kennett, whose exhibitor-bred groups also went on to win both the Best Pair and Best Group of Three.
With plenty of publicity material handed out across the three days of the show, we hope that any potential new members won't hesitate to get in touch! For any enquiries about the breed or how to source animals to suit your requirements, please do contact the BWCS or drop in to see the members at one of our Society shows or sales, and we'll be happy to help.
